  • Review color, sheen, trim details, and the areas included in the quote.

What a new exterior finish changes

A planned color and sheen can give siding and trim a more consistent appearance.

Proper surface checks help separate paint wear from damaged material that needs repair.

A coordinated remodeling plan keeps exterior painting connected to related carpentry, flooring, cabinetry, or custom finish work when those services are part of the project.

Clear scope helps you decide which surfaces need paint, stain, or a different repair.

Process

How we complete an exterior painting project

1

Review the exterior surfaces

We check siding, trim, masonry, exposed wood, old coatings, joints, and visible damage before setting the work scope.

2

Set the paint and repair scope

We separate coating work from repairs and identify the paint, stain, or masonry finish that fits the included surfaces.

3

Prepare the included areas

We clean, scrape, repair, and prime the agreed surfaces so the new finish has a sound base.

4

Apply the planned finish

We apply the selected finish to the included siding, trim, masonry, wood, and other agreed exterior areas.

5

Check the final details

We review coverage, edges, trim lines, and finish details before the exterior painting work is complete.

What you get from a planned exterior finish

A surface-based product choice

We choose the finish after reviewing the surface, old coating, and visible wear. Exterior painting is the wrong job when siding or trim needs replacement before a coating can hold.

One remodeling plan

Our end-to-end project management connects painting with related home improvements when the work involves more than the exterior finish.

A clear quote before work

Free estimates are available, and the quote can reflect the surfaces, prep needs, materials, and finish details included in the planned work.

Best remodel experience we have ever had. The oversight, careful workmanship and ownership of the project was above expectations. Our design team was amazing. We also had the same person do all the work start to finish and was a total Pro. Could not recommend enough and will be doing any and all projects through them. This place is a gem.

Linda and her team did an excellent job! We would highly recommend them. We hired her for a kitchen remodel and asked for a very tight timeline. She delivered and we absolutely love the result. She was very commutative and available to us. Thank you Design and Build NW!

Overall I enjoyed working with Linda and her team. Even though there were no major redesign of spaces and I knew exactly what tile/fixtures/cabinets etc I wanted I still was appreciative of her insight on certain details and choices. It was very easy to collaborate with her. She makes an effort to be in-tune with a client. She was very responsive and took care of everything that needed attention as soon as she was able too. She made sure that I was listened to and taken care of as a client with her subcontractors. I would work with her again.

Questions about exterior painting and product choices

Which exterior paint products protect siding from weather for Exterior Painting?

Elastomeric coating can protect suitable siding when the surface check supports its use. Acrylic paint may fit other prepared exterior surfaces, while product choice depends on siding material, old coating, cracks, and moisture signs. We review those conditions before recommending a finish. The quote then identifies the included prep, product, and application work.

What does your crew inspect before painting an exterior?

The first inspection covers siding, trim, masonry, exposed wood, old coatings, joints, and visible damage. We look for peeling, cracks, mildew, weak adhesion, and areas that need repair before coating. Photos can help start the discussion, but the quote must reflect the surfaces and prep included in the planned work.

How do you decide between paint and wood stain?

Wood stain fits suitable exposed wood when the owner wants color with visible grain. Paint creates a more solid surface finish and may suit prepared trim or previously painted areas. We check the wood condition, old finish, and desired appearance before setting the product choice. Damaged wood may need repair before either finish.

When is exterior painting the wrong service for a siding problem?

Exterior painting is the wrong first step when siding or trim has damage that prevents a coating from holding. We separate loose material, deep rot, major cracks, and other repair needs from ordinary paint wear. Related remodeling work may address the damaged section before painting resumes. The quote explains which work belongs in each part of the plan.

Why does mildew resistance matter on an outside wall?

Mildew resistance matters when the surface shows organic growth or repeated staining. We check the wall material, existing finish, affected areas, and likely prep needs before selecting a product. Cleaning and repair decisions still matter because paint alone doesn't correct damaged material. The planned scope should identify both the surface work and finish work.

What changes the quote for a house exterior?

The quote changes with surface area, access, condition, preparation, repairs, product choice, color changes, and finish details. We review siding, trim, masonry, and exposed wood so the estimate reflects the actual work. Free estimates are available, and the written scope can show which areas and preparation steps the quote covers.
